Morrow Park sign designation was placed at Baum Boulevard and Liberty Avenue. Bloomfield’s only WWII monument was placed at this site known as the Gateway to the 8th Ward. In 1922 the Park was named for Eustes Morrow, Pittsburgh City Controller 40 years, who resided on Liberty Avenue.

Bloomfield was Annexed to the City of Pittsburgh in 1868. The location of this sign at Baum Boulevard and Cypress Street help define the borders between sister neighborhoods of Bloomfield and Shadyside (the other side of Center Avenue) while elaborating about an important part of history.

The Baum Boulevard Historic Auto Row Bloomfield signage at Baum Boulevard and Morewood Avenue reminds residents and visitors the role Bloomfield played in auto manufacturing. Ford and Hudson maintained factories making auto parts at peace time and military vehicles during WWII.

Public Works Director Rob Kaczorowski became Acting Director in October 2009 and Director in January 2010. He has served the City of Pittsburgh for over three decades. He was enlightened to the needs of our residents at the April 14th Bloomfield Citizens Council Community BlockWatch meeting and carried our message back to Mayor Luke Ravenstahl. Finally, the Bloomfield Citizens Council had a commitment to repave the badly deteriorated corridor of Liberty Avenue. Thanks to Rob’s efforts, Bloomfield received a face lift.

From the Desk of Commander
Timothy O’Connor

“Dial 911, report all suspicious activity and graffiti. This new tagging of buildings and homes needs to be reported to Law Enforcement. This important 911 number is the data given when dispersing officers to your Community as a need! Then report event to Officer Michael Gay, Community Relations Officer at 412-665-3770 and to the Mayor’s Response Line 311”, stated Commander O’Connor at the Bloomfield Citizens Council Community BlockWatch Meeting on April 14, 2011 at St. Joseph Church Social Hall.
